Cass Brockett
Cassandra (Cass) Brockett is a US-trained Doctor of Clinical Psychology, now in Australia as a Registered Psychologist working for MSMH based in the Toowoomba office in Rockville. She provides assessment and intervention services primarily for adult clients, with a clinical focus working with individuals who are part of the Transgender and Gender Non-Conforming community, and others from the LGBTIQA+ community.
Cass has over 25 years of experience providing support services for the Transgender and Gender-Nonconforming community. During her US training, she worked with individuals who have been dealing with severe mental health concerns (Schizophrenia, Schizoaffective, Bipolar Disorder, Major Depression, and more), in both individual and group treatment options; and with adolescents and teenagers in dealing with mental health concerns in a school-based setting. Her overseas training has been in community-based mental health services, working with a diverse range of individuals.
Due to her training, and support experience, Cass uses a methodology which utilizing Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Narrative Therapy, and Humanistic/Existential therapy with her clients. Cass’ training includes utilizing trauma-informed methods alongside culturally-aware practice to work with the individual as they navigate their current life challenges.
Cass has run research projects with the transgender community in the USA, one revolving around reducing bias and negative views of transgender individuals by others in the community, and the other focusing on the therapy experiences of transgender individuals seeking gender-affirming care. While she is passionate about research with the community, her true focus is working with the community clinically.
Cass’ education in Psychology began with her receiving her Bachelor of Arts in Psychology (Summa Cum Laude) in 2016 from John F Kennedy University in San Jose, California. Continuing her education, Cass received her Masters of Arts in Clinical Psychology in 2018, and her Doctorate in Clinical Psychology in August 2024.
Cass is registered with AHPRA as a Provisional Psychologist (PSY0002929231).
Cass is a member of multiple psychological associations, in Australia and the USA. In Australia she is a Provisional member of AAPI, and an Associate member of APS.
