Alex Leong

While I was completing my Master’s in Clinical Psychology at the University of Southern Queensland, I was recruited to work part-time at Mylne Street Mental Health to provide psychological services. Following my graduation and achieving Registered Psychologist status, I am continuing to work at MSMH as a Clinical Psychology Registrar.

I am passionate about promoting access to psychology services, taking a warm, person-centred, non-judgmental approach in therapy, and informing my practice with evidence-based therapies, such as Cognitive Behavioural Therapy and Acceptance and Commitment Therapy.

I have a range of work experiences include working with children, parents, adults, and older adults living with:

  • Neurodevelopmental disorders
  • Anxiety-related disorders
  • Depressive mood disorders
  • Trauma-related disorders
  • Substance-related disorders
  • Chronic pain
  • Grief & loss

I also have experience in psychological assessments to better understand difficulties with:

  • Intellectual functioning
  • Learning
  • Flexible thinking, planning, organising & self-control
  • Mood & behaviour
  • Social skills
  • Daily living skills
